2026 Hausman Scholarship Winner
Abby Starr
​
Abby Starr has been a dedicated athlete and artist since early childhood, balancing her passions for basketball, dance, and the arts with exceptional commitment, achievement and leadership. She began playing basketball at just four years old and went on to play four years of varsity basketball at Hilliard Davidson High School, lettering in three of them.
​
During her junior year, Abby earned the OCC Special Mention award and was voted by her teammates to receive the Wildcat Award. As a senior, she continued to excel—earning OCC Second Team honors, being named Offensive Player of the Year by her coaches, serving as team captain, and finishing as the highest scorer on her team. She also led her OCC group in threepointers made for the season. Abby tied for second overall in Davidson High School history for most threepointers made in a single season and placed third overall for most threepointers made in a career.

Beyond the court, Abby contributed creatively by designing graphics for team apparel, among other things, and managing the team’s Instagram presence.
Abby has also been a dancer since the age of four, joining Hilliard Dance Connection’s competitive team at six years old. Throughout her dance career, she has earned numerous awards, including a firstplace finish at a national competition. In recent years, her solo performances scored high enough to earn her a place on the National Dance AllStar Team for two consecutive years. She loves helping choreograph routines and adding custom “bling” to her own and her teammates’ costumes.

A multitalented creative, Abby also enjoys painting and has even sold art pieces. When she isn’t training, performing, or creating, she manages to find enough time to study to maintain academic honors and also works at New Grounds Coffee Shop.

Abby is thrilled to be attending The Ohio State University in the fall, where she plans to study architecture and continue exploring her passion for design and potentially even basketball.
Our Mission
To honor his contribution in his home community, the Friends of Rick Hausman Committee has now established an annual post-secondary educational scholarship for a Hilliard Davidson graduate athlete who best exemplifies leadership, courage and excellence.
